Chiropractic for Life: Dr. Skinner’s Mission to Help You Move, Feel & Live Better
Dr. Sean Skinner’s journey to chiropractic started early—way back in elementary school! Growing up in Seneca Falls, NY, home to Northeast College of Health Sciences (formerly New York Chiropractic College), he was introduced to chiropractic at a young age. One moment that really stuck with him? Career day in elementary school. His friend Dennis’ dad, Dr. Homack, brought in a model spine to show the class.
“I remember him explaining the vertebrae, especially the spinous process, and teaching us how to feel someone’s back to check for alignment. I went home that day and tried it out on my parents,” Dr. Skinner recalls. “Looking back, that moment had a huge influence on me.”
Pursuing Chiropractic Education
That early spark led him to pursue a degree in Health Science and Human Performance (Exercise Science) with a concentration in Allied Health at Ithaca College. As he explored different career paths, chiropractic kept calling to him. “Having the ability to facilitate healing in people using a hands-on approach is such a powerful thing—I had to learn how to do it.”
After earning his degree, he knew he was on the right path. The thing that really drew him in was pure fascination with how the body heals itself when given the right support. “The body has the ability to heal itself if you push it in the right direction—figuratively and literally,” he says.
That passion has turned into a rewarding career. For Dr. Skinner, there’s nothing better than witnessing people get out of pain and back to doing what they love. “The best part of my job is seeing patients heal, recover, and return to the activities they couldn’t do when they were in pain,” he says. Feeling better means living better, and he loves being part of that journey.
Living & Leading by Example
When he’s not in the office, you’ll likely spot Dr. Skinner staying active with his family—whether it’s at the playground, walking their dog, or hitting the trails for a hike. He also makes it a priority to hit the gym three to four times a week. And if there’s a golf course nearby, you might just catch him playing 9 holes while his kids drive the golf cart!
Dr. Skinner is a firm believer in keeping workouts diverse—something he encourages for athletes at all levels. “Our bodies handle different physical demands every day, so a well-rounded workout routine is key to keeping our joints and spine healthy,” he explains. His own commitment to an active lifestyle is something we’re proud to see reflected in the care he provides his patients.
Here’s the “one thing”
What is one thing Dr. Skinner wishes more people knew? Chiropractic care is an incredible conservative treatment option. It’s a safe, non-invasive, drug-free way to treat back and neck pain, joint pain, and even headaches. It helps people find relief without turning to medication or surgery.
When it comes to his ideal day at work Dr. Skinner shared the following:
“When every patient—whether it’s their first visit or their tenth—tells me they’re feeling and functioning better than before.”
That’s what he is here for. That’s what our entire team is here for. We want you living your best life and feeling inspired toward better health.
