Healing & Hustle: How Chiropractic Helps Sabrina Stay on the Go
Dr. Sean Skinner may have joined the Adjust NRV team a few months ago but he is by no means new to Chiropractic. With over 15 years experience, Dr. Skinner is a seasoned and trusted professional. We are excited for his first patient spotlight to feature a patient that has been with him for about 15 years - incredible!
Sabrina first became a patient with Dr. Skinner all those years ago when he was a chiropractor in the Roanoke Valley. At the time, Sabrina spent her days as a social worker, which was both a physically and mentally exhausting job. Her days often extended beyond the typical 9-5 work hours and were relentlessly demanding.
A Hobby Turned Business
During this time, Sabrina was looking for an outlet of sorts; something to help her navigate the challenges associated with her day in and day out job. What started as a hobby that stemmed from her high school interests in theatre and college degrees in both criminal justice and sociology, quickly turned into another full time job for her. Sabrina eventually started her own company called Jump Into Mystery where she designs and executes murder mystery events for the community.
Sabrina’s new journey launched just weeks after she retired with 20 years in social work and days before the Covid Pandemic shut the world down in 2020. Some might have given up in the face of that significant challenge - but it didn’t stop Sabrina. She was able to pivot and found ways to help companies do team building activities online. She also helped senior citizens continue having contact with family and friends in their nursing homes via Zoom.
Since those early days of her business she has expanded her events to local coffee shops, wineries, breweries, libraries, non-profit organization fundraisers, and much more. She also has numerous local awards and accolades attesting to the fun and successful business that she has built.
Chiropractic Keeps Her Going!
With all of that being said, you may be wondering what that has to do with Sabrina and her chiropractic care!? Well, as you can see she’s a very busy and determined business woman!
Going from a career in social work to having her own company to run takes a lot out of a person. Sabrina had a history of medical issues that first led her to seek out chiropractic care many years ago. In order to maintain her health and her busy lifestyle, she relied heavily on Dr. Skinner to keep her on the go.
At one point, Dr. Skinner changed offices in Roanoke and Sabrina willingly followed him across town to ensure she was able to continue as his patient. She knew that finding a chiropractor like Dr. Skinner was not an easy feat. She had tried others before him and couldn’t quite settle with one for what she was looking for until she met him. And then came the news that he would be joining our team at Adjust NRV in Blacksburg. And you guessed it - that still didn’t stop Sabrina. She now drives 45 minutes one way for her monthly maintenance visits with Dr. Skinner. She values his expertise and the time he spends making sure she receives the comprehensive care she needs. Sabrina emphasized, “There is no way I’m trusting my chiropractic care to anyone else!”
Inspired and Comprehensive Care
Sabrina is a huge supporter of holistic and functional medical care. When asked how she uses her story to inspire others to live a healthy life, she noted that overall, in every aspect of her life, she likes to think outside the box. So when it comes to her health, she is sure to exhaust all options – chiropractic care, physical therapy, acupuncture, dietary changes, exercise routines, etc. – before considering medication or surgical treatments.
Sabrina is beyond grateful to have Dr. Skinner is in her corner to provide her with complete care and necessary advice. Yes, it is about his expertise and sound chiropractic care but it is also about the long-term relationship that they have built over the years. We feel so fortunate that Dr. Skinner’s journey brought him to Adjust NRV and that allowed us all to meet and support Sabrina, too. Afterall, relationships are what it is all about and we are so grateful to have one with Sabrina!
