Hiking, Healing, and Community: Debbie’s Journey with Adjust NRV

A Shared Love for Hiking

Debbie and Dr. Brooke share a love of hiking. She and her husband started this hobby during COVID. While Debbie has had some minor neck and back issues that initially brought her to Dr. Brooke, it’s their love of hiking that has kept them connected over the years. She first met Dr. Brooke while he was working in another practice and later followed him when he opened Adjust NRV.

Finding the Right Fit for the Trail

While hiking, Debbie noticed a couple of issues. She told Dr. Brooke that during one hike, her feet had never hurt so much. They began talking about shoes, and he asked her to bring hers in next time. It turned out that her toe box wasn’t big enough. Now, whenever she buys new hiking shoes, she automatically brings them in to ensure they are a good fit for her hips, feet, and gait.

Preparing for Yosemite Adventures

Another example of Dr. Brooke’s hiking expertise came when Debbie was training for a weeklong hiking trip in Yosemite. Dr. Brooke suggested she try a specific local hike as preparation. She did great going up and took a break at the top, but when she started hiking back down, her back locked up. Dr. Brooke later determined that her hiking poles were too short. After adjusting them to the proper length, she successfully completed her Yosemite hikes with no issues!

Care for the Whole Family

Like many others, Debbie quickly recruited friends and family members to visit Dr. Brooke. Her son Brad, a high school football player, began regular care at Adjust NRV due to neck issues. After a hard hit during practice, Brad had an appointment that afternoon. When Debbie brought him in, Dr. Brooke halted everything to go through the full concussion protocol, ensuring Brad’s safety and well-being. She shared that no matter the issue, you can count on Dr. Brooke to help!

A Welcoming and Supportive Community

The Adjust NRV office receives plenty of compliments, and Debbie has many to give. She loves the warm atmosphere, where she often runs into familiar faces from the community. She also appreciates how much Dr. Brooke and his team do beyond the office—mentoring Eagle Scouts, supporting Virginia Tech Athletics, and hosting community celebrations. Additionally, Dr. Brooke recommends other local businesses, such as massage and physical therapists, to further support patient care.

Grateful for Health and Connection

Debbie is beyond grateful for the team at Adjust NRV and the supportive community around her. Thanks to their care and expertise, she stays healthy and active for all that life brings her way!
