Unlocking Your Best Golf Swing with Chiropractic & TPI Screening
How Chiropractic Care Helps Golfers Improve Their Game
Being a chiropractor is an incredibly rewarding career. Every day, I have the opportunity to work with patients of all ages, activity levels, and health goals. Some come in because they’re experiencing acute pain and need relief, while others are focused on staying active with their grandchildren or maintaining long-term mobility. Then there are those who want to push their limits and perform at their very best—and that’s where chiropractic care really shines for athletes.
We’re passionate about seeing our athletes succeed—on and off the course. One sport where chiropractic care makes a big difference is golf. While many people underestimate golf’s physical demands, it’s actually a sport that requires strength, flexibility, balance, and repetitive motion—all of which can take a toll on the body over time.
The Golf Swing: A Complex Chain of Movement
The golf swing is one of the most intricate movements in sports. It involves a precise combination of joint mobility, muscle coordination, and timing, known as the kinematic sequence. From the ankles and hips to the spine, shoulders, and wrists, nearly every joint and muscle in the body plays a role.
For many amateur golfers, this coordination doesn’t come naturally—and that’s part of what makes the game so challenging. While golf coaches focus on teaching swing mechanics, my role as a chiropractor is different: I ensure the body itself is capable of performing those movements. That means making sure joints are mobile, muscles are flexible, and the body is stable enough to support proper swing mechanics.
What Is a TPI Screening?
To better serve golfers, I completed certification through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). This allows me to provide a specialized assessment called a TPI screening, which is designed to identify physical limitations that may be holding a golfer back.
During the screening, I guide athletes through a series of movement and functional tests that evaluate areas such as the hips, spine, shoulders, and wrists. These tests reveal whether there are mobility restrictions, weaknesses, or imbalances that could affect swing mechanics or increase the risk of injury.
The results of a TPI screening provide a personalized roadmap for each golfer. With this information, we can create a targeted plan to:
Improve mobility and flexibility
Strengthen stability and balance
Reduce the risk of injury
Enhance overall performance on the course
Why Golfers Benefit from Chiropractic Care
At Adjust NRV, one of the most exciting parts of what we do is helping athletes unlock their full potential. We especially enjoy working with highly motivated golfers, including our NIL-sponsored Virginia Tech athletes Emily Matthews and Ashton Harper. As elite competitors, they are constantly striving to improve their game, and our specialized approach gives them the edge they need.
Whether you’re a competitive golfer looking for every advantage or a weekend player hoping to enjoy the game without pain, chiropractic care combined with TPI screening can make a meaningful difference. By addressing the body’s physical limitations, we help golfers move better, swing more efficiently, and ultimately play at a higher level.
